Transcript and Analysis of the President's Weekly Radio Address:
"President Obama Lauds Clean Energy Projects as Key to Creating"

The White House Press Office:  – In this week’s address, President Obama announced that – due to clean energy incentives launched by his administration – a company called BrightSource plans to break ground this month on a new, revolutionary type of solar power plant.  This will put about 1,000 people to work building the facility. And once completed, it will power up to 140,000 homes, making it the largest such plant in the world.  But for all the potential of clean energy projects like this one, the GOP recently pledged to scrap all incentives for these projects, even ones currently in progress.

Saturday Morning Radio Address

Another Perspective:
"
Liberty Under God"

Over the past twenty months, we’ve been fighting not just to create more jobs today, but to rebuild our economy on a stronger foundation.  Our future as a nation depends on making sure that the jobs and industries of the 21st century take root here in America.  And there is perhaps no industry with more potential to create jobs now – and growth in the coming years – than clean energy. Where in the Constitution is the President given authority to "rebuild our economy on a stronger foundation?"

How does a politician know what jobs are going to be "the jobs of the 21st century?"

Nuclear power and other forms of clean energy may hold much more potential than wind and solar. Who made the President the nation's expert on energy? Who made the President the nation's "Investor-in-Chief?"

What if the President and Congress had decided back in 1850 that the whale oil industry was "too big to fail," or would be the bright energy future in the 20th century? What if politicians envisioned all our lamps being powered by whale oil? What if they took investors' money out of the petroleum industry and created "new jobs" in the whale oil industry?

Who's to say that solar energy is just as unviable as whale oil?

That's the fundamental question: who is to say? Who gets to decide how and where to invest your money?

For decades, we’ve talked about the importance of ending our dependence on foreign oil and pursuing new kinds of energy, like wind and solar power.  But for just as long, progress had been prevented at every turn by the special interests and their allies in Washington.  The foreign oil dependence boogeyman is an illusion.

Manufacturers of solar panels and windmills are "special interests."

So, year after year, our dependence on foreign oil grew.  Families have been held hostage to spikes in gas prices.  Good manufacturing jobs have gone overseas.  And we’ve seen companies produce new energy technologies and high-skilled jobs not in America, but in countries like China, India and Germany.  Government "Investments"

If people in Columbia can grow coffee cheaper than Americans can, and if people in India can make solar panels cheaper than Americans can, why should the government make Americans do what Indians do, and force Americans to pay more for the same product? Why shouldn't Americans do what Americans do best? Why shouldn't Americans be permitted to create the jobs Americans want, rather than the jobs Obama wants?

It was essential – for our economy, our security, and our planet – that we finally tackle this challenge.  That is why, since we took office, my administration has made an historic commitment to promote clean energy technology.  This will mean hundreds of thousands of new American jobs by 2012.  Jobs for contractors to install energy-saving windows and insulation.  Jobs for factory workers to build high-tech vehicle batteries, electric cars, and hybrid trucks.  Jobs for engineers and construction crews to create wind farms and solar plants that are going to double the renewable energy we can generate in this country.  These are jobs building the future. There are 15 million unemployed (according to the Republicans). How does a few hundred thousand jobs represent a "new foundation?"

Why is it Americans have not invested their money in wind farms? Why does Obama feel he has the authority to take money away from projects Americans want to invest in and invest their money in Obama's projects?

For example, I want share with you one new development, made possible by the clean energy incentives we have launched.  This month, in the Mojave Desert, a company called BrightSource plans to break ground on a revolutionary new type of solar power plant.  It’s going to put about a thousand people to work building a state-of-the-art facility.  And when it’s complete, it will turn sunlight into the energy that will power up to 140,000 homes – the largest such plant in the world.  Not in China.  Not in India.  But in California. Did Obama find a place for the Two Dozen Tortoises that had been holding up BrightSource's Mojave project?
With projects like this one, and others across this country, we are staking our claim to continued leadership in the new global economy.  And we’re putting Americans to work producing clean, home-grown American energy that will help lower our reliance on foreign oil and protect our planet for future generations. "Protect our planet" from what?
Now there are some in Washington who want to shut them down.  In fact, in the Pledge they recently released, the Republican leadership is promising to scrap all the incentives for clean energy projects, including those currently underway – even with all the jobs and potential that they hold.
This doesn’t make sense for our economy.  It doesn’t make sense for Americans who are looking for jobs. And it doesn’t make sense for our future.  To go backwards and scrap these plans means handing the competitive edge to China and other nations.  It means that we’ll grow even more dependent on foreign oil.  And, at a time of economic hardship, it means forgoing jobs we desperately need. In fact, shutting down just this one project would cost about a thousand jobs. China, India, the Philippines, Brazil, and Ecuador have "the competitive edge" in banana production. Shouldn't Obama take money out of your paycheck to create solar powered greenhouses to grow bananas in New Hampshire, to cut our dangerous dependence on foreign bananas? Wouldn't this create hundreds of thousands of jobs?
That’s what’s at stake in this debate.  We can go back to the failed energy policies that profited the oil companies but weakened our country.  We can go back to the days when promising industries got set up overseas.  Or we can go after new jobs in growing industries. And we can spur innovation and help make our economy more competitive.  We know the choice that’s right for America.  We need to do what we’ve always done – put our ingenuity and can do spirit to work to fight for a brighter future. The wars in the Middle East are "failed energy policies" that benefit certain energy industries.
Thanks.

The Republican Party Radio Address:

Response of the Republican Party
Saturday Morning Radio Address

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Once again, the Republican Party leadership has asked Congressman Ron Paul to deliver . . . wait a minute . . . I'm sorry . . .
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky delivered the GOP Weekly Address

Good morning. This is Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
Over the past 19 months, we’ve witnessed something truly remarkable in Washington.
We’ve seen a governing party basically tune out the American people who elected them and aggressively advance an agenda that most Americans vehemently opposed.
In fact, the more Americans spoke out against government takeovers, government-run health care, wasteful spending, and debt, the more Democratic lawmakers seemed to dig in.
This is a pretty risky approach in a nation where the government, to quote the Declaration of Independence, derives its powers from the consent of the governed.  It’s also the main reason most people expect Republicans to do pretty well in the upcoming November elections.
But Republicans aren’t under any illusions. We know voters are primarily interested in stopping the government freight train and sending a message to both parties this November. Voters in Southwest Missouri can best send this message by voting for the Libertarian Party candidate, Kevin Craig.
They want all of us to know that we work for them, not the other way around.
And they want us to do something about jobs. Because chronic unemployment is not a second-tier issue: it’s a national crisis. If Americans are looking to Congress to "do something about jobs," then Americans deserve to be unemployed.
At the moment, nearly 15 million Americans are currently looking for work and can’t find it.
Another 11 million are working below their skill levels.
Yet virtually every single piece of major legislation Democrat leaders in Washington have proposed over the past 19 months has made it either harder for businesses to hire new workers or retain the workers they already have. And now they want to make it even worse.
Earlier this week, Democrat leaders who’ve spent the past year and a half working tirelessly to expand the reach of government, left town without doing the single most important thing they could have done for jobs.
Too preoccupied enacting the rest of their agenda, they neglected to pass or even propose legislation that would prevent one of the largest tax hikes in history.
As a result, at the stroke of midnight on December 31st, every American who pays income taxes is set to get a tax hike that Democrats have had two years to prevent.
The lowest income taxpayers will see a 50% increase in their federal income tax rate on their first $8,000 of income.
Middle class Americans will get hit hard — at the worst possible time.
Parents will see the child tax credit they’ve enjoyed for nearly a decade cut in half.
Many young people with college degrees will see the deduction they get on their loan interest vanish.
The death tax will rocket from 0 percent to 55 percent, meaning many Americans will soon have to hand over more than half of everything they have to the federal government before leaving it to their families.
Hundreds of thousands of small businesses will get socked with a job-killing tax hike.
And young couples will be penalized even more than they already are just for getting married.
All of these changes would overturn provisions that have been the law of the land for nearly ten years. And allowing them to happen at a time when so many are struggling makes no sense at all if you want to help the economy — something even the President admitted in the past.
That’s why I proposed a bill last month that would extend current law and prevent any of these tax hikes from taking place, S.3773, the Tax Hike Prevention Act.
Unfortunately, Democrats weren’t interested.
In the final days of the session, they had other priorities.
And whenever they were asked about this looming tax hike, they just blamed the Republicans.
They said that Republicans will be to blame for some people getting a tax hike because we didn’t think anyone should get a tax hike … Partisan stupidity. Republicans refused to pass the Democrats' bill restoring SOME of the tax cuts because they wanted to get their own Party's bill passed. So NO tax cuts get passed. They put their Party ahead of the People.
Now, I don’t get it either.
The fact is, the best way to help individuals and small businesses and the economy is to give them all the certainty that their taxes won’t be going up at the end of the year.
But Democrat leaders in Washington appear to have other plans with your money.
As the President recently said, and I’m quoting him directly: ‘I’ve got a whole bunch of better ways to spend that money.’ Why does Obama think he gets to spend your money? (But Republicans think the same thing, only for different projects. The government cannot spend $4 trillion of your money without the support of Republicans.)
So after maxing out the national credit card on a failed Stimulus bill and a government-run health care bill, they want even more. And that’s why they are now holding middle class Americans hostage in a pursuit of their foolish desire to tax America’s job creators in the middle of a recession.
It makes you wonder who they’re listening to. I’m Mitch McConnell. Thanks for tuning in.    ####

What Ozarks Candidates Are Saying About These Issues

Billy Long

Another Perspective:
"
Liberty Under God"

Like Congressman Roy Blunt says, we are the only nation that treats our natural resources as a hazard.  We have enough coal to supply our nation for more than 100 years, yet liberals are hesitant to find ways to use it to increase our energy independence safely, cleanly, and affordably.  Billy supports research efforts to make clean coal technology economical and supports the construction of additional nuclear power plants to reduce our dependency on fuel from nations who hate America.  He also supports increasing our nation’s energy independence by tapping into our own energy reserves by drilling for oil offshore and in ANWR.  Access to affordable energy is vital for our country to continue to grow and prosper. The coercive power of government should not be used to prevent Americans from investing in and benefiting from coal, nuclear, or other forms of energy (which it does by redistributing their investment dollars to other industries). We could also say, the coercive power of government should not be used to compel Americans to invest in any of these forms of energy.

The key point is that energy is not of of the government's constitutionally enumerated powers.

"Energy independence" is bad economics.

Why should the choice of energy be made by politicians?

Taxes
As a fiscal conservative, Billy believes that the current tax code stands in the way of economic growth. Our government takes too much, penalizes success, and has created a tax code that is too complex and too long, at nearly 17,000 pages, for the average person to manage. Billy will always support tax relief and will vigorously fight congressional liberals when they seek to increase taxes. Billy is open to either a flat tax or a fair tax as a way to fix our tax system. If elected, Billy will work to streamline the tax system and make sure hard-working Missourians are able to keep more of what they earn.
Why did the Republicans pass tax cuts that were deliberately and intentionally set to expire? Why not just cut taxes and hope that future congresses wouldn't undo that?

The federal tax system cannot be "fixed." It needs to be abolished, and only the Libertarian in this race makes that proposal. Taxation is theft. The "Fair Tax" is still unfair. The personal income tax was created by progressives to make the government larger. It doesn't need to be "fixed."

Scott Eckersley

Another Perspective:
"
Liberty Under God"

No mention of "energy" on Eckersley's website. There is this on the

Gulf Oil Spill

There is an oil company that owes Americans a lot of money.  We need off-shore drilling to decrease our dependence on foreign oil.  By putting in place stronger regulations and bigger penalties for failures, fewer failures will result.  I support drilling for oil to decrease our dependence on middle-east oil.  It is also important to protect park lands.  The bottom line is that it's time for business and environmental policy advocates learn [sic] to work together.  Responsible environmental policy is good business.

Environmentalism is never "responsible."

If America had been a City upon a Hill instead of an atheistic empire, we could have used our "dependence on middle-east oil" as a fulcrum to Christianize the entire Arab world. The U.S. has "invested" as much as $10 trillion in the Middle East for oil. We could have said, "If you want our money, you have to listen to the message of the Christian worldview, capitalism, and Constitutionalism." Instead, the federal government uses bombs to impose its wishes on other countries, and destroys Christianity wherever it goes.

If Eckersley's statements were laid side-by-side with his Republican opponent, and neither set of comments were identified, it would be difficult to distinguish them, or identify the true author. Eckersley is indistinguishable from most Republicans, and therefore from most politicians these days. We've been hearing about cutting government debt and spending for decades. It won't even begin to happen unless we get a few libertarians in Congress.

More Resources on Today's Subjects

If you take nothing else with you from today's "Virtual Town Hall," remember this:

Taxation is immoral;
the ethical equivalent of THEFT

Second, Today's Tax Burden is 10-30 times greater
than the taxes America's Founders called a tyranny.

Third, the purposes for which today's government uses taxes
are destructive of civilization itself.

How the Two Major Parties Differ from
the American vision of "Liberty Under God":

  • The Constitution:
  • The Free Market:

    • America's Founders spoke of America as "an Experiment in Liberty" (1787-1887)
      • The "experiment" was a success: a Free Market made America the most prosperous and admired nation in history. "Capitalism" means freedom.
    • In the 20th century, the experiment in liberty was replaced with another experiment: an experiment in central planning
    • The original American dream of personal, private ownership, has been replaced with private indebtedness and public control.
    • The Invisible Hand of the Free Market works better than the Visible Fist of Government
    • America was founded on the philosophy of "Liberty Under God."
      • "Liberty" means freedom from government suppression of ideas and confiscation of wealth
      • "Under God" means we have a personal responsibility to love God and neighbor.
    • The original American Dream: Everyone dwelling safely under his own Vine & Fig Tree
      • Human beings are endowed with the right to property by God, not the government.
    • America was founded as a "City upon a Hill," a Christian nation from which the Gospel would be promoted around the world, and the "blessings of liberty" would cover the planet.
    • Economics in One Lesson:
      • From this aspect, therefore, the whole of economics can be reduced to a single lesson, and that lesson can be reduced to a single sentence: The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy; it consists in tracing the consequences of that policy not merely for one group but for all groups.
  • Terrorism
    • Why do they call The United States "The Great Satan?"
      • The federal government bombs Muslims

      • The federal government has military bases in Muslim nations

      • The federal government supports Israel's actions against Palestinians

    • These are the reasons given by Osama bin Laden for declaring a "fatwah" (holy war) against the U.S.
    • All of these accusations are true.
    • All of these government actions are contrary to the Constitution.
    • The biggest cause of terrorism -- and the most dangerous threat to the personal safety and security of ordinary Americans like you and me -- is the Federal Government of the United States.
    • The federal government is no longer a City upon a Hill, but an imperialist empire.
    • America's Founders envisioned the American people, acting as businessmen, humanitarians, and missionaries, engaging in commercial and charitable activities around the world, bringing peace and receiving the admiration of the world.
      • "The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible."
        — Washington, Farewell Address (1796) [Washington’s emphasis]

      • "I deem [one of] the essential principles of our government, and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration,…peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none."
        — Jefferson, First Inaugural Address (1801)

    • Bush's unconstitutional military invasion of Iraq has destroyed Christianity in that country.
      • Under Saddam Hussein's secular government, Christians in Iraq had greater freedom than in most other Arab nations, and one of the largest Christian populations in the Muslim world was in Iraq.
      • Iraq is now an Islamic theocracy under Sharia law. The Christian population has been destroyed. Christian Churches are burned and terrorized with impunity. Thanks be to Washington D.C.
    • Obama is following in Bush's unconstitutional, anti-Christian footsteps.
    • The U.S. needs to take greater leadership in avoiding nuclear mass-murder.
    • Is any war a "Just War?" We must beat our "swords into plowshares."
  • The New World Order
    • The "G-20" Leaders are not our representatives.
    • The U.S. must end "entangling alliances" with dictators around the globe.
  • Socialized Medical Care
    • Capitalism, not socialism, creates higher quality health care for more people, especially for the poor.
    • Health care reforms should decrease, not increase, government involvement.
      • No Government licensing of doctors and other healthcare providers.
      • No transformation of insurance into welfare.
  • Environmentalism
    • A false religion - worshiping the creature rather than the Creator.
    • Human beings have a higher priority than wildlife.
      • Dominion
      • Human beings need a healthy environment -- obviously.
      • "The State" is the greatest destroyer of the environment, and limits liability of polluters, to the detriment of private property owners.
  • Time for Revolution?

Why Americans Should
Celebrate
Christmas

365 Days a Year

The word "Christ" means "King." The Message of Christmas and the Principles set forth by the Christ (the Messiah) who came that first Christmas are the real solution to America's problems. The Federal Government is at war with Christmas and "The Way of Peace" announced by the Prince of Peace. The Government should be on His shoulders (Isaiah 9:6-7). Abolishing a Messianic State is the only appropriate way to honor the Messiah. Otherwise Christmas becomes mass hypocrisy.

Christmas

Bush-Clinton-Obama

John 1:1-18 - The Incarnation
The Word became flesh. The Creator of the universe becomes a human being. He came to His own, but His own did not receive Him, preferring darkness rather than light.
Luke 1:1-4
Eyewitnesses of the Messiah recorded their testimony. Co-Founder of the Harvard Law School says their testimony would prove the resurrection in any court of law in America, at one time a Christian nation.
No longer a Christian nation, American courts routinely release the guilty and condemn the innocent.
Matthew 1:1-17
Jesus was a descendant of King David. The Jews gave us the Bible.
Obama is a distant cousin of both Dick Cheney and George Bush

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

Luke 3:23-38
Jesus was a descendant of Abraham.
All those who submit to Jesus as the Messiah (the rightful king of the earth) inherit the promises made to Abraham
Those who reject the Messiah do not inherit the promises made to Abraham, even though Bush defends their right to do so.
Luke 1:5-25
John the Baptist prepares the way for the Messiah, as prophesied of Elijah.
As you read the Gospel accounts, ask yourself how you would react if you knew these accounts were really true. Not just true in some "religious" sense, but reported in the New York Times, proven in a court of law, or acknowledged by your personal hero.  (How do you know something is true? Do you even have any "heroes?") How should you change your life if your Creator became a human being? How should Washington D.C. react if this human being claimed to be the true Ruler?
Luke 1:26-38
The Angel Gabriel announces the conception of the Messiah, who will be given the throne of David.
Luke 1:39-45
The unborn John recognizes the mother of the Messiah.
Bush-Obama would chop the unborn John and the unborn Jesus into stem cells for "medical research."
Luke 1:46-56 - "The Magnificat"
“He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.” Luke 1:51
The Bush Administration is filled with the power-hungry, who commit adultery in reality or in fantasy.
Luke 1:67-80
Zacharias, John the Baptist's father, prophecies the birth of Jesus the anti-king.
The expectations of Zacharias are 180° opposite those of the Bush-Obama Administration.
Matthew 1:18-25
Joseph told about the Incarnation.
"Jesus" means "salvation"
"Immanuel" means "God with us"
The Bush Administration thinks it brings salvation.

Obama thinks he is Immanuel.

Luke 2:1-7
The Prophet Micah predicted that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Jesus' parents lived in Nazereth. Therefore God predestined Caesar to issue a decree (probably relating to taxes) that would bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem before Jesus was born.
Bush claims the same global power of confiscation and migration as Caesar did. Thousands of Christians have been forced to move out of Iraq to make way for Bush's Islamic Theocracy.
Luke 2:8-14
An army of angels announces the birth of the Messiah, saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to those with whom He is pleased!”
Man's chief end is to glorify God and live in peace. The Bush Administration's chief end is to erect a "wall of separation" between God and government so that the State gives no glory to God, and to wage war, thereby "stimulating the economy."
Luke 2:15-20
“Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”
Washington D.C. isn't listening.
Luke 2:22-24
Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem to obey Leviticus 12:8, which suggests that they were not rich.
Washington politicians are among the richest and most financially secure people in America.
Luke 2:25-35
Simeon had been told he would not die before he saw the Lord's Messiah. He says Jesus is "The One."

Is Barack Obama the Messiah?

Luke 2:36-38
Anna the Prophetess is another well-known Godly person who acknowledges that Jesus is the Child promised by the prophets.
Where is the Anna of our day who tells us we can trust Washington D.C. to bring salvation?
Matthew 2:1-8
"Wise men from the East" knew of Micah's prophecy that the King of the Jews would be born in Bethlehem.
Are there any wise men around the world who place their confidence in George Bush, Henry Paulson, Paul Krugman, or Barack Obama?
Matthew 2:9-12
The kings from the east present the Messiah with "gold, frankincense, and myrrh."
Rather than bestowing wealth on the King, Obama-Bush confiscates the wealth of others.
Matthew 2:13-18
When Herod got word of the birth of a rival king, he behaved in a perfectly logical way (for someone who wants to protect his power):  he massacred all male babies the age of Jesus. Herod recognized that Jesus was a threat to Herod's power.
Every day in America 4,000 unborn babies are murdered. These babies must threaten something.

Millions of Americans who call themselves Christians, on the other hand, are no threat to tyranny. None of them are being killed. Bush has killed a thousand times more human beings than Herod did, and confiscated a billion times more wealth than Herod did.

Matthew 28:18-20
Herod's son Antipas played a small role in the execution of Jesus Christ. But Jesus rose from the dead, was enthroned on the throne of David at the right hand of God, and assumed the rightful role of King over all nations.
"Beginning today and culminating on Sunday morning, Christians will celebrate with their families the resurrection of Christ, His victory over death. We will remember that He gave His body and His blood—washing clean the faults and the shortcomings of the world. In our rejoicing we will renew the hope that is ours through the risen Lord."
Ronald Reagan: Statement on the Celebration of Passover and Easter

Listeners' Questions

Bob Harrison - St. Louis
If Christ forbade the use of government force to regulate sins like drug use, why would the Christian Founders allow voters to write amendments that allow the government to do that into the Christian Constitution?
In addition to the discussion during our Town Hall, it should be pointed out that the Christian Founders believed many things which were not Christian, even though they themselves claimed to be Christian. They believed the institution of civil government was a necessary evil, which some Christians (and many libertarians) believe is evil, but not necessary. Jefferson, who called himself a Christian, believed homosexuals should be castrated. No Christian today believes that. They also permitted things which most of them thought should be abolished. Slavery is an obvious example. Arminianism might be another example, if Calvinists thought the government should take action against it, but realized that that same government power might be turned against them (the Calvinists) if the Arminians were to seize power. I am not aware of any position taken by any of the Founding Fathers with regard to government force against drug use. I suspect drunkenness was a crime in every state.

Bob Harrison - St. Louis
Follow-up: if any government (including the US Constitution) is Biblically illegitimate, then why is the constitutionality of any law relevant? Why should I (or we) care? I don't mean this hostilely, but isn't a "constitutional" law of a "government" as unholy as an "unconstitutional" law?
We should force politicians to be consistent. If they take an oath to "support the Constitution," they ought to at least be held to that standard. If they can't be depended on to follow the Constitution, they can't be depended on to follow an even higher standard.

During last week's Town Hall, we mentioned a debate in the Constitutional Convention. Actually we were thinking of a debate in the ratifying convention of North Carolina. The debate can be found here. Our analysis is found here. It is clear from reading the debate that all parties believed America was a Christian nation, and should continue to "add to the progress of the Christian religion among us." They thought the danger of government imposition of religion was greater than the danger of Muslims being elected. They were right. Today's "moral majority" types are wrong. Freedom is essential; government compulsion is more dangerous than that which it seeks to prevent.

Kevin Craig's Platform:

What Would America's Founding Fathers Do?

The men who threw tea into the Boston Harbor over a tax of 3 pence per pound would not be happy with a tax ten times greater on every gallon of gas. Those who took up muskets over a total tax burden of less than 3% would not be happy with the fact that the federal government now takes more than half of everything you earn.

Today it is illegal for public school teachers to teach their students that the Declaration of Independence is really true (and not just an outdated historical document). The federal government is clearly at war with everything the Founding Fathers stood for.

America's greatest Americans would abolish today's federal government.

Muskets are Not an Option

There are two reasons why we should not take up arms to pull off the violent overthrow of the federal government, even if America's Founders would surely do so. First, the feds have nukes. Second, violent revolution is unChristian and unBiblical. We must beat our swords into plowshares and use persuasion to abolish tyranny. This is time for a revolution of ideas.

Revolution Won't Come in a Day

John Adams once wrote that the American Revolution began in 1761, when Massachusetts attorney James Otis began legal challenges to the Writs of Assistance. He lost the case, but "American independence," Adams wrote, "was then and there born." Now do the math. That means it took 15 years to convince the rest of America to declare Independence (1776). Then another seven years of war was required before a Peace Treaty was signed (1783), and then six years before the Constitution was finally ratified (1789). That's almost 30 years. (And Jefferson said we shouldn't go 20 years without another rebellion!) How can we hope to convince Americans to fight for principles they were never taught in government schools? We need to be in this battle for the long term. "Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty."

Yet virtually every day that Congress is in session these same oath-takers become law-breakers -- passing laws and expending funds on items that are not Constitutionally permissible. Background page.
Help End the Mexican Civil War
Black-market profits caused by drug prohibition fund a civil war in Mexico that's threatening to spill over our borders. Drug profits also fuel the terrorists who are killing U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. It's time to dry up the black-market profits. It's time to end drug prohibition.

Make Congress Read Their Bills Before Voting

End the FED
The Federal Reserve System constantly inflates and deflates the supply of money and credit, causing booms and busts. It's time to get off this roller-coaster. It's time to end the Fed.

No Bailouts!

No Bailouts!
No government money, whether borrowed or taxed, should ever be used to bailout private financial interests. If you agree, please send Congress a message telling them so.
TWIC - A Backdoor Real ID Card
Real ID is dying. But the Department of Homeland Security has a new plan to subject every American to a national ID card anyway. They plan to pick off one occupational field at a time, starting with the maritime industry. One man is fighting back. Meet him, and help stop this backdoor Real ID plan.

Repeal the campaign finance laws Repeal the campaign finance laws
Campaign finance laws are really incumbent protection laws. They make it almost impossible for challengers to raise competitive funding, while doing almost nothing to control the true causes of government corruption. We were told that the campaign finance laws—the contribution limits and the reporting requirements—would curtail or even prevent corruption. Now, with 40 years of experience, we know that they do the exact opposite.
End Asset Forfeiture
If the government suspects you used your house or car in a crime, they can take it and sell it at auction. They don't even have to prove your guilt. They call this practice civil asset forfeiture, but it's really theft. It violates the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th and 14th Amendments. It also encourages law enforcement to put profits before justice. Tell Congress to end civil asset forfeiture.

Cap-and-trade is not the way to control carbon emissions.

Cap-and-trade is not the way to control carbon emissions.
Even if you accept that human CO2 emissions are causing problematic global warming, a government run "cap and trade" system is not the way to deal with this problem.
• An increase in your electricity and gasoline bills
• New tools for politicians to control the economy, hand out favors, and punish enemies
• Almost no improvement in reducing overall CO-2 emissions (if the example of Europe is a reliable guide) Learn more »

Unelected bureaucrats create tens-of-thousands of new dictates each year. Making rules is the job of Congress, not bureaucrats.

Restore consumer controlled health care

Restore consumer controlled health care
The politicians tell us free market health care doesn't work, but we haven't had a free market in decades.
• Starting with depression era wage and price controls, and continuing with government tax policies, the politicians have made Americans dependent on their jobs to get health insurance.
• The government already pays for nearly half of all health care. This means we're half-socialized already

Stop the War for Terror
U.S. policy has inflamed the Middle East. It has made terrorism more likely rather than less. We seem to be fighting a war for terror, rather than on terror. This policy must stop. The place to start stopping is with Iran. We must not attack Iran. War with Iran would devastate our economy, disrupt world oil supplies, and recruit more terrorists. Click here to stop this war before it starts.

Preserve the Freedom to Farm

Preserve the Freedom to Farm
Crops grow in dirt. Animals don't take showers or use toilets. Food is made from yucky stuff.
This means there's always a risk of contamination. We can reduce this risk, but not eliminate it. Attempts to make everything perfectly safe are Utopian fantasies that carry a high price in increased costs, reduced variety, diminished supply, and . . . increased risk.
The free market already provides you with multiple ways to balance risks and costs.
