President
Obama's
Saturday Morning Radio Address
|
Another
Perspective:
"Liberty
Under God"
|
As the political season heats up,
Americans are already being inundated with the usual phone calls,
mailings, and TV ads from campaigns all across the country.
But this summer, they’re also seeing a flood of attack ads run
by shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names. We don’t
know who’s behind these ads and we don’t know who’s paying
for them. |
|
The reason this is happening is
because of a decision by the Supreme Court in the Citizens United
case – a decision that now allows big corporations to spend
unlimited amounts of money to influence our elections. They
can buy millions of dollars worth of TV ads – and worst of all,
they don’t even have to reveal who is actually paying for
them. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled
corporation. You don’t know if it’s BP. You don’t
know if it’s a big insurance company or a Wall Street
Bank. A group can hide behind a phony name like “Citizens
for a Better Future,” even if a more accurate name would be “Corporations
for Weaker Oversight.” |
The Citizens
United case involved a small non-profit corporation that made
a movie critical of Hillary Clinton, and wanted to show the movie
to voters before the election. Obama is suggesting that Americans
would be duped and fooled, and become corporate pawns, unless the
moviemaker was forced to reveal that the movie was made by a small
non-profit corporation that was critical of Hillary Clinton.
Americans must be truly stupid people.
Obviously Obama knows who's behind these ads, or he wouldn't be
complaining about this. So why doesn't he post this information on
the White House website, so concerned Americans can know what
Obama knows?
Is it really a threat to our election system if the Sierra Club
(a non-profit corporation) pays for an ad that says
"Candidate A is an environmentalist," or "Candidate
B is not an environmentalist?"
|
We tried to fix this last
month. There was a proposal supported by Democrats and
Republicans that would’ve required corporate political
advertisers to reveal who’s funding their activities. When
special interests take to the airwaves, whoever is running and
funding the ad would have to appear in the advertisement and take
responsibility for it – like a company’s CEO or an
organization’s biggest contributor. And foreign-controlled
corporations and entities would be restricted from spending money
to influence American elections – just as they were in the
past. |
The government has
the right to script TV ads paid for by private parties? What kind
of fascism is this? |
You would think that making these
reforms would be a matter of common sense. You’d think
that reducing corporate and even foreign influence over our
elections wouldn’t be a partisan issue. |
"Common"
only because defense of the First Amendment is so uncommon these
days. |
But the Republican leaders in
Congress said no. In fact, they used their power to block
the issue from even coming up for a vote. |
|
This can only mean that the
leaders of the other party want to keep the public in the
dark. They don’t want you to know which interests are
paying for the ads. The only people who don’t want to
disclose the truth are people with something to hide. |
It could mean that
they believe in the First Amendment. |
Well, we cannot allow the
corporate takeover of our democracy. So we’re going
to continue to fight for reform and transparency. And I urge
all of you to take up the same fight. Let’s challenge
every elected official who benefits from these ads to defend this
practice or join us in stopping it. |
America
is not a democracy. If it were, and every voter got to vote on
every issue, how could corporations "take this over?"
Will they fix it so that only corporations get to vote? How could
they do this if they are not even telling us their names in these
ads? If the Sierra Club pays for an ad that says "Candidate A
is an environmentalist," and Americans don't know that the ad
was paid for by the Sierra Club, how has the Sierra Club taken
over "our democracy?" Americans must be truly stupid
people. Except for those Americans that form corporations. (Full
disclosure: I have personally formed about a dozen non-profit
corporations.) |
At a time of such challenge for
America, we can’t afford these political games. Millions
of Americans are struggling to get by, and their voices shouldn’t
be drowned out by millions of dollars in secret, special interest
advertising. Their voices should be heard. |
|
Let’s not forget that a century
ago, it was a Republican President – Teddy Roosevelt – who
first tried to tackle the issue of corporate
influence on our elections. He actually called it “one
of the principal sources of corruption in our political affairs.”
And he proposed strict limits on corporate influence in
elections. “Every special
interest is entitled to justice,” he said. “but
not one is entitled to a vote in Congress, to a voice on the
bench, or to representation in any public office.” |
What does it mean
to say that the businesses of America -- the business you work
for, or the business you run -- gets no representation in
government? Nobody gets to say anything if the government wants to
destroy your job?
The government presently spends trillions of dollars on
"special interests."
|
We now face a similar challenge,
and a similar opportunity to prevent special interests from
gaining even more clout in Washington. This shouldn’t be a
Democratic issue or a Republican issue. This is an issue
that goes to whether or not we will have a democracy that works
for ordinary Americans – a government of, by, and for the
people. Let’s show the cynics and the special interests
that we still can. |
|
|
One final note: some
judicious criticisms of corporations can be made, particularly the
aspect of limited liability. Corporations are creatures of the
State, in some ways. See our references to corporations.

“Why
Americans Should
Celebrate Christmas
365 Days
a Year”
The word "Christ" means "King." The Message
of Christmas and the Principles set forth by the Christ (the
Messiah) who came that first Christmas are the real solution to
America's problems. The Federal Government is at war with Christmas
and "The
Way of Peace" announced by the Prince
of Peace. The Government should be on His
shoulders (Isaiah
9:6-7). Abolishing a Messianic State
is the only appropriate way to honor the Messiah. Otherwise
Christmas becomes mass hypocrisy.

- Luke
1:5-25
- John the Baptist prepares the way for the Messiah, as
prophesied of Elijah.
|
As you read the
Gospel accounts, ask yourself how you would react if you knew
these accounts were really true. Not just true in some
"religious" sense, but reported in the New York
Times, proven in a court of law, or acknowledged by your
personal hero. (How do you know something
is true? Do you even have any "heroes?") How should
you change your life if your Creator became a human being? How

Obama thinks he is Immanuel.
|
- Luke
2:1-7
- The Prophet Micah predicted
that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Jesus'
parents lived in Nazereth. Therefore God predestined
Caesar to issue a decree (probably relating to taxes) that
would bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem before Jesus was
born.
|
Bush claims the same global
power of confiscation and migration as Caesar did. Thousands
of Christians have been forced to move out of Iraq to make way
for Bush's Islamic Theocracy. |
- Luke
2:8-14
- An army of angels announces the birth of the Messiah,
saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace
to those with whom He is pleased!”
|
Man's chief
end is to glorify God and live in
peace. The Bush Administration's chief end is to erect a
"wall of separation"
between God and government so that the State gives no glory to
God, and to wage war, thereby "stimulating the
economy." |
- Luke
2:15-20
- “Now when they had seen Him, they made widely
known the saying which was told them concerning this
Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things
which were told them by the shepherds.”
|
Washington D.C. isn't

2:22-24
- Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem to obey Leviticus
12:8, which suggests that they were not rich.

America. |
- Luke
2:36-38
- Anna the Prophetess is another well-known Godly person
who acknowledges that Jesus is the Child promised by the
prophets.
|
Where is the Anna of our day
who tells us we can trust Washington D.C. to bring salvation? |
- Matthew
2:1-8
- "Wise men from the East" knew of Micah's
prophecy that the King of the Jews would be born in
Bethlehem.
|
Are there any wise men around
the world who place their confidence in George Bush, Henry
Paulson, Paul Krugman, or Barack Obama? |
- Matthew
2:9-12
- The kings from the east present the Messiah with "gold,
frankincense,
and myrrh."
|
Rather than bestowing wealth
on the King, Obama-Bush confiscates
the wealth of others. |
- Matthew
2:13-18
- When Herod got word of the birth of a rival king, he
behaved in a perfectly logical way (for someone who wants
to protect his power): he massacred all male babies
the age of Jesus. Herod recognized that Jesus was a threat
to Herod's power.
|
Every day in America 4,000
unborn babies are murdered. These babies must threaten
something.
Millions of Americans who call themselves Christians, on
the other hand, are no threat to tyranny.
None of them are being killed. Bush has killed a thousand
times more human beings than Herod did, and confiscated a
billion times more wealth than Herod did.
|
- Matthew
28:18-20
- Herod's son Antipas played a small role in the execution
of Jesus Christ. But Jesus rose from the dead, was
enthroned on the throne of David at the right hand of God,
and assumed the rightful role of King over all nations.

"Beginning today and
culminating on Sunday morning, Christians will celebrate with
their families the resurrection of Christ, His victory over
death. We will remember that He gave His body and His blood—washing
clean the faults and the shortcomings of
the world. In our rejoicing we will renew the hope that is
ours through the risen Lord."

Kevin Craig's Platform:
- Feature:
- "Vine &
Fig Tree" - the original American Dream -
work, profit, save, invest, enjoy, pass on to next generation.
- Not "easy to borrow,"
perpetual debt;
- Education -- so the next generation
can understand what America's Founders fought and died for.
- Energy -- the key to a rising standard
of living
- Not "invade other nations"
to secure our own wealth.
- Not trust in standing armies
for our "national security."
- Taxes take over half of everything we
earn during our lifetime.
- Social Security is an
unethical ponzi scheme which prevents one generation from passing
on a nice nest egg to the next.
- Every American could be born with a comfortable
inheritance for education, a first home, or medical care; instead,
every American is born in great debt.
- Washington D.C. central planning increases debt, does not create
the "Vine &
Fig Tree" life.
- No more inflation, no more paper
money.
- No more wasteful government spending.

The Republican
Party Radio Address:
Response of the Republican Party
Saturday Morning Radio Address |
|
Saturday, August 21st, 2010 |
|
Once again, the Republican
Party leadership has asked Congressman
Ron Paul to deliver . . . wait a minute . . . I'm sorry . .
.
Rep. Charles Djou of Hawaii delivered the
GOP Weekly Address |
|
I’m Congressman Charles Djou. |
|
Ninety days ago, I earned the
privilege of serving the people of Hawaii’s 1st Congressional
District. Of course, it didn’t take me nearly that long
to figure out that Washington does a lot more talking than
listening -- and a lot more spending than saving. |
This judgment
certainly applies to Republicans. |
For every problem facing our
nation, the answer from Washington has been to spend and spend,
and -- if that doesn’t work -- spend some more. The current
administration in Washington told us that borrowing and spending
billions would create jobs "immediately" and keep
unemployment from exceeding 8%. They were wrong. Instead, we’ve
lost millions of jobs and unemployment remains near 10%. |
|
No price tag has been too high
for Washington, and now we’re all paying the price.
Altogether, we now owe more than $43,000 for each man, woman and
child in the United States. That is a frightening number. |
|
Even more frightening is the
fact that the current administration in Washington intends to
use this fiscal crisis to impose job-killing tax hikes on
families and small businesses. But we will not fix the deficit
until we cut spending and have real economic growth -- and we
will not have real economic growth if we keep raising taxes on
small businesses. According to the nonpartisan Joint Tax
Committee, Congress’s official tax scorekeeper, half of
small-business income in America will face higher taxes under
the president’s plan. |
|
If we keep spending too much,
borrowing too much, and taxing too much -- if we keep doing the
same things, we’re going to get the same dismal results. It’s
time to change direction. It’s time to listen. |
|
All throughout this month,
Republicans have been meeting with our constituents to hear
their concerns. These town-hall meetings are part of our America
Speaking Out project, which gives Americans a megaphone to make
their voices heard and share their solutions for turning things
around. |
|
To participate in this
nationwide effort, all you have to do is log on to
AmericaSpeakingOut.com, post an idea of your own, or comment and
vote on someone else’s. As we speak, thousands of ideas are
percolating on America Speaking Out. |
|
As part of this national
conversation, Republicans have proposed better solutions to
provide the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to get
Americans working again. |
|
Led by congressmen Paul Ryan
[of Wisconsin] and Jeb Hensarling [of Texas], Republicans on the
House Budget Committee -- a panel on which I serve -- have
identified more than
$1.3 trillion in Washington spending we can cut right now.
From canceling unspent "stimulus" funds and TARP
bailout money to freezing
government pay and government hiring, these common-sense
proposals recognize that what our economy needs is more private
sector jobs, not more public sector programs. |
"Freezing"
pay is not cutting pay; it is only cutting a
proposed increase. This is typical of Republican promises.
Usually they're saying, "We're going to vote against the
spending proposed by the Democrats." In this case, however,
they're saying, "We going to cut the spending we authorized
under our own Bush bailout." |
Of course, this is just a
start. Much more needs to be done to make sure Washington has
gone on its last spending spree, but these are steps we can take
right now to demonstrate to taxpayers at home and allies abroad
that America is serious about getting its fiscal house in order. |
|
When Congress returns in
September, Speaker Pelosi should bring our $1.3 trillion in
proposed spending cuts to the floor for immediate consideration.
Even if the powers-that-be in Washington do not support less
government and less spending, they should at least provide those
of us who do with a chance to give the American people the
common-sense fiscal discipline they are demanding. |

What Would America's Founding Fathers Do?
The men who threw tea into the Boston Harbor over a tax of 3 pence
per pound would not be happy with a tax ten times greater on
every gallon of gas. Those who took up muskets over a total tax burden
of less than 3% would not be happy with
the fact that the federal government now takes more
than half of everything you earn.
Today it is illegal for public school teachers to teach their
students that the Declaration of Independence is really true (and not
just an outdated historical document). The federal government is
clearly at war with everything the Founding Fathers stood for.
America's greatest Americans would abolish
today's federal government.
Muskets are Not an Option
There are two reasons why we should not take up arms to pull off
the violent overthrow of the federal
government, even if America's Founders would surely do so. First, the
feds have nukes. Second, violent revolution is unChristian and
unBiblical. We must beat our swords into
plowshares and use persuasion to
abolish tyranny. This is time for a
revolution of ideas.
Revolution Won't Come in a Day
John Adams once wrote that the American
Revolution began in 1761, when Massachusetts attorney James Otis
began legal challenges to the Writs
of Assistance. He lost the case, but "American
independence," Adams wrote, "was
then and there born." Now do the math. That means it took 15
years to convince the rest of America to declare Independence
(1776). Then another seven years of war was required before a
Peace Treaty was signed (1783), and then six years before the
Constitution was finally ratified (1789). That's almost 30 years. (And
Jefferson said we shouldn't go 20
years without another rebellion!) How can we hope to convince
Americans to fight for principles they were never taught in government
schools? We need to be in this battle for the long term. "Eternal
Vigilance is the Price of Liberty."

Repeal
the campaign finance laws
Campaign finance laws are really incumbent protection laws. They
make it almost impossible for challengers to raise competitive
funding, while doing almost nothing to control the true causes
of government corruption. We were told that the campaign finance
laws—the contribution limits and the reporting requirements—would
curtail or even prevent corruption. Now, with 40 years of
experience, we know that they do the exact opposite. |
End
Asset Forfeiture

6th, 8th, 9th and 14th Amendments. It also encourages law
enforcement to put profits before justice. Tell Congress to end
civil asset forfeiture.
