Webster's, 1st ed. 1828
I now rejoice in my sufferings for
you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of
Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,
Colossians 1:24
I express in my life the character of Christ and His
sufferings, through which He demonstrated His love for His people.
For the sake of the elect, I draw on the energy of the Spirit to
give life to the Image of God in me, so that others may come to
know Him.
Because I study God's Law, I am acquainted with the full range
of human behavior and emotions. Because I obey God's Law with all
my heart, soul, mind, and strength, I communicate the character of
God to others with unusual perspicacity.
I express my joy over righteousness with vibrant color; my
hatred of sin with stern and determined warning, and my readiness
to serve with open invitation. I communicate solidarity by
rejoicing with those who rejoice, and weeping with those who weep.
Expressiveness heightens my testimony for the Lord.
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to
the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ
should be to the praise of His glory.
-- Ephesians 1:11-12
I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto thy
ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy
Word.
-- Psalm 119:15
