Speaking the truth in love, in spite of personal discomfort, to bring light
to the darkness
1. Candid; free in uttering real sentiments; not reserved; using no disguise.
2. Open; ingenuous; as a frank disposition or heart.
3. Liberal; generous; not niggardly
4. Free; without conditions or compensation; as a frank gift.
Webster's, 1st ed., 1828
I am continually taking a fearless and
searching moral inventory, and am honestly confronting my sins and putting my old
man to death. In this way I remove my disguises.
Because I am indwelled by the Spirit, and have the Law written on my heart, I
have nothing to hide, and much to share.
In a world of defiant homosexuality, unmasked hatred, and widespread violence,
I cannot afford to keep my religion out of the public square.
I must be salt and light in a decaying culture.
I must judge righteous judgment, and
speak truth to evil.
Speaking the truth does no good if my pride and anger scorch the seeds I have
planted. I water them carefully and nurture them lovingly so that my frankness
bears rich fruit, and satisfies those who hunger for righteousness.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to
those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He
also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be
the firstborn among many brethren.
-- Romans 8:28-29
I have remembered Thy Name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept Thy Law.
-- Psalm 119:55
This isn't that New Age "Positive
Thinking" stuff, is it??
