Confidence that what I have to say or do is true and right in
the sight of God.
He exemplifies to me a very rare combination of inner
strength and quiet self-assurance, deep religious faith,
superb personal courage, sensitivity to other people's
needs who are not so influential or well known or powerful
as he is, an ability to work with others, a way to assess
a complicated question and divulge his accurate but
sensitive and simple analysis to other people, an ability
to work with his own peer group. That is really a
combination that is rare. [1] |
Satan, the "strong man." was bound
by Christ.
I am created in the Image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made.
Though I was the property of the demonic slave-traders, Jesus
paid the price to buy me back, and now I am His.
Those who believe they are the random and meaningless products
of evolution become enraged when despised by the popular; I have
completely relaxed self-assurance. I am sure of my calling in all
situations, and with all people.
I am confident.
I respect myself and my goals and have complete self-assurance
in all that I think and do.
I am becoming more and more single-minded, and able to stand
alone.
My family sees me becoming more and more assured and
self-confident.
Despite his self-assurance, though,
Washington acknowledged once again a continuing sense of
his own fallibility.
The Real George Washington, p. 578
I have made my calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10); my
self-assurance comes from God's verdict of righteousness through
justification, and His continuing work in me, a vessel predestined
for glory and continually available for His fashioning.
My poised disposition is an asset to my community.
"M. F. Treacy's Prelude to Yorktown; the Southern
Campaign of Nathanael Greene, 1780–1781 (Chapel Hill,
University of North Carolina Press [1963] 261 p.) pictures [Nathanael]
Greene as an excellent planner but one who demonstrated a lack of self-assurance
and personal force." [2]
Because of the electing grace of Christ, I am able to fulfill
God's commands by being:
- confident
- steady
- unwavering
- single-minded
- poised
- self-controlled
|
- undoubting
- unhesitating
- level-headed
- unruffled
- untroubled

just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to
Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
-- Ephesians 1:4-5
I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy
testimonies are my meditation.
