The inward strength to bring all instincts and appetites --
physical and emotional -- under the control of the Holy Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, {23} gentleness,
self-control.
Against such there is no law. {24}
And those who are Christ's have
crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. {25}
If we live in the Spirit, let us
also walk in the Spirit.

God in His grace is enabling me to render instant obedience to
the initial promptings of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know
that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives
the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it.
25 Athletes exercise
self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable
wreath, but we an imperishable one.
Each time I hear the promptings of the Spirit, and ask God for
grace to obey, I develop more self-control, and it becomes
habitual.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who
love God, to those who are the called according to His
purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be
conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn
among many brethren.
