"We the People" gave the federal government no authority to build infrastructure like dams, to own and control vast stretches of land or water, or to subsidize selected industries with cheap water or electricity at taxpayer expense:
This fundamental principle of the Constitution is ignored by nearly every member of Congress. Anyone who takes the oath of office seriously is considered a "fringe" "extremist." America's Founding Fathers would not recognize America today, morally or politically. We suffer many problems which are caused by previous departures from America's original vision of "Liberty
Under God." Electing one Libertarian to Congress will not bring an instant solution to all these problems. Everybody wants "instant."
Here is an overview of the Libertarian outlook, based on free markets, not government planning and coercion:
Nothing in the Constitution authorizes the massive undertaking of dam-building and population control which the federal government has undertaken in the last century.
When you think of government control of water and dams, think of Katrina, the disaster in Louisiana which was caused by failure of government-built and -controlled water levees.
When you think of government control of water and dams, think of California agriculture being built on the backs of Missouri taxpayers and causing disruption of the West's ecosystem.
Some supporters of "smaller" government still applaud government infrastructure:
But environmentalists are not impressed by the rapid creation of industrialism. Who is to say that a slower rate of growth, unaided by taxpayer extortion and fiat money indebtedness, would not have been a more moral growth?
Kevin Craig was born in California, but moved to the Ozarks where his parents were born. He wants to prevent the "Californication" of America. California is today a national problem, created by government. Hollywood would not exist without government manipulation of water. Re-thinking water is a major undertaking, involving re-thinking industrialization, ecology, population, economics, special interests, and the larger vision of "Liberty
Under God."
