Notes and Summary of the President's Saturday Radio Address:
Goals for Health Care Reform

The White House Press Office: In his weekly address, President Barack Obama described his goals for fixing our broken health care system.  With skyrocketing costs threatening fiscal collapse, real reform that provides quality, affordable health care for every American is a necessity that cannot wait.  To do this, reform must be built on lowering costs, improving quality, and protecting consumer choice so people who are happy with their coverage can keep it.  (continued below)

How the President Differs from the American vision of "Liberty Under God":

  • America had the greatest system of "health care" in the world

  • America also had the greatest system of "computer care" in the world

  • America also had the greatest system of "grocery care" in the world

  • Which one has had the greatest amount of government "reform?" Which one is now worse off?

  • Here are the basic principles undergirding our position on healthcare:

  • The Constitution created a federal government with very limited powers, bound down by the "chains of the constitution." The Bush-Obama Regime believes it has vast, unlimited powers to cure all diseases and bring salvation.

  • America was founded on the philosophy of "Liberty Under God."
    • "Liberty" means freedom from government suppression of ideas and confiscation of wealth
    • "Under God" means we have a personal responsibility to love God and neighbor.
  • The original American Dream: Everyone dwelling safely under his own Vine & Fig Tree
    • Human beings are endowed with the right to property by God, not the government.
  • The Constitution created a federal government of very limited power and few functions.
  • Most politicians who take an oath to "support the Constitution" are ignorant of its most basic assumptions.
    • The federal government only has the powers granted to it -- "enumerated" -- in the Constitution.
    • The "General Welfare" clause is no exception to this principle.
    • "States Rights" -- most government should be carried out on a local level.
  • America was founded as a "City upon a Hill," a Christian nation from which the Gospel would be promoted around the world.
  • America's Founders spoke of America as "an Experiment in Liberty" (1787-1887)
    • The "experiment" was a success: a Free Market made America the most prosperous and admired nation in history
  • In the 20th century, the experiment in liberty was replaced with another experiment: an experiment in central planning
  • The original American dream of personal, private ownership, has been replaced with private indebtedness and public control.
  • "No Taxation Without Representation" - a rallying cry of the American Revolution.
  • Taxation is a relatively unimportant federal revenue generator. The fed now creates money out of thin air
  • This money-creation system is immoral and unconstitutional. It steals from the poor and elderly.
  • America's Founding Fathers would conclude that The First Amendment had been repealed
    • There is no freedom of religion: the U.S. is officially atheistic.
    • There is no freedom of the press: the media is the lapdog of "the Establishment."
  • The Invisible Hand of the Free Market works better than the Visible Fist of Government

President Obama's
Saturday Morning Radio Address

Another Perspective:
"
Liberty Under God"

Over the past few days, I’ve been traveling through the Middle East and Europe working to renew our alliances, enhance our common security, and propose a new partnership between the United States and the Muslim world. Under the original vision of America as a land of "Liberty Under God," a "City upon a Hill," a Christian nation from which the Gospel would be promoted around the world, the American people, acting as businessmen, humanitarians, and missionaries, would engage in commercial and charitable activities around the world.
  • The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible."
    — Washington, Farewell Address (1796) [Washington’s emphasis]

  • I deem [one of] the essential principles of our government, and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration,…peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.
    — Jefferson, First Inaugural Address (1801)

When we pursue these goals, we can have a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, and enjoy national security.

But even as I’m abroad, I’m firmly focused on the other pressing challenges we face – including the urgent need to reform our health care system.  Even as we speak, Congress is preparing to introduce and debate health reform legislation that is the product of many months of effort and deliberation.  And if you’re like any of the Americans I’ve met across this country who know all too well that the soaring costs of health care make our current course unsustainable, I imagine you’ll be watching their progress closely. We don't have a "health care system" any more than we have a "computer care system" or a "housing care system."

See these resources on healthcare.

Unfortunately, most Americans are not watching Congress closely.

I’m talking about the families I’ve met whose spiraling premiums and out-of-pocket expenses are pushing them into bankruptcy or forcing them to go without the check-ups or prescriptions they need.  Business owners who fear they’ll be forced to choose between keeping their doors open or covering their workers.  Americans who rightly worry that the ballooning costs of Medicare and Medicaid could lead to fiscal catastrophe down the road. These "I-feel-your-pain" anecdotes distract us from long term realities.

Medicare resources.

Simply put, the status quo is broken.  We cannot continue this way.  If we do nothing, everyone’s health care will be put in jeopardy.  Within a decade, we’ll spend one dollar out of every five we earn on health care – and we’ll keep getting less for our money.  The "status quo" is not the Free Market. The Free Market is not broken. Government regulation of and intervention in the Free Market is the problem.

If the government does nothing, everyone's health care will be as secure as our groceries and cell phones.

That’s why fixing what’s wrong with our health care system is no longer a luxury we hope to achieve – it’s a necessity we cannot postpone any longer.
The growing consensus around that reality has led an unprecedented coalition to come together for change.  Unlike past attempts at reforming our health care system, everyone is at the table – patient’s advocates and health insurers; business and labor; Democrats and Republicans alike. A "coalition" of business and labor resulted in the death of General Motors
A few weeks ago, some of these improbable allies committed to cut national health care spending by two trillion dollars over the next decade.  What makes this so remarkable is that it probably wouldn’t have happened just a few short years ago.  But today, at this historic juncture, even old adversaries are united around the same goal: quality, affordable health care for all Americans. The ideal would be to be able to spend much more on health care. Would you rather live in a depression when people don't have much money to spend on health care, or would you rather live in an economy which is ten times more productive than our economy today, our standard of living is much higher, and we're spending money on health care that cures cancer, prevents birth defects, and extends lifespans?
Now, I know that when you bring together disparate groups with differing views, there will be lively debate.  And that’s a debate I welcome.  But what we can’t welcome [accept] is reform that just invests more money in the status quo – reform that throws good money after bad habits.
We must attack the root causes of skyrocketing health care costs.  Some of these costs are the result of unwarranted profiteering that has no place in our health care system, and in too many communities, folks are paying higher costs without receiving better care in return.  And yet we know, for example, that there are places like the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and other institutions that offer some of the highest quality of care in the nation at some of the lowest costs in the nation.  We should learn from their successes and promote the best practices, not the most expensive ones.  That’s how we’ll achieve reform that fixes what doesn’t work, and builds on what does.  The root causes of skyrocketing health care costs are created by socialism, not capitalism -- government requirements, regulations, and interference with the competitive process that lowers costs in every other area of human life.

"Profiteering" is the only "root cause" listed.

This week, I conveyed to Congress my belief that any health care reform must be built around fundamental reforms that lower costs, improve quality and coverage, and also protect consumer choice.  That means if you like the plan you have, you can keep it.  If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too.  The only change you’ll see are falling costs as our reforms take hold. Notice in this sentence Obama is talking about reforms that have not yet been proposed.

Notice in this sentence Obama is making promises about the reforms that have not yet been proposed, much less implemented.

I also made it very clear to Congress that we must develop a plan that doesn’t add to our budget deficit.  My budget included an historic down payment on reform, and we’ll work with Congress to fully cover the costs through rigorous spending reductions and appropriate additional revenues.  We’ll eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in our health care system, but we’ll also take on key causes of rising costs – saving billions while providing better care to the American people. Why should we trust the government (of all things) to "eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse?"
All across America, our families are making hard choices when it comes to health care.  Now, it’s time for Washington to make the right ones.  It’s time to deliver.  And I am absolutely convinced that if we keep working together and living up to our mutual responsibilities; if we place the American people’s interests above the special interests; we will seize this historic opportunity to finally fix what ails our broken health care system, and strengthen our economy and our country now and for decades to come.

Restoring America's Greatness by
Celebrating Christmas all year long

The Message of Christmas and the Principles set forth by the Christ (the Messiah) who came that first Christmas are the real solution to America's problems. The Federal Government is at war with Christmas and "The Way of Peace" announced by the Prince of Peace.

Christmas

Bush-Clinton-Obama

John 1:1-18 - The Incarnation
The Word became flesh. The Creator of the universe becomes a human being. He came to His own, but His own did not receive Him, preferring darkness rather than light.
"The State is God walking on Earth"

The 2 parties are cooperating rival sects in the world's most powerful religious cult.

Luke 1:1-4
Eyewitnesses of the Messiah recorded their testimony. Co-Founder of the Harvard Law School says their testimony would prove the resurrection in any court of law in America, at one time a Christian nation.
No longer a Christian nation, American courts routinely release the guilty and condemn the innocent.
Matthew 1:1-17
Jesus was a descendant of King David.
Obama is a distant cousin of both Dick Cheney and George Bush

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

Luke 3:23-38
Jesus was a descendant of Abraham.
All those who submit to Jesus as the Messiah (the rightful king of the earth) inherit the promises made to Abraham
Those who reject the Messiah do not inherit the promises made to Abraham, even though Bush defends their right to do so.
Luke 1:5-25
John the Baptist prepares the way for the Messiah, as prophesied of Elijah.
As you read the Gospel accounts, ask yourself how you would react if you knew these accounts were really true. Not just true in some "religious" sense, but reported in the New York Times, proven in a court of law, or acknowledged by your personal hero.  (How do you know something is true? Do you even have any "heroes?") How should you change your life if your Creator became a human being? How should Washington D.C. react if this human being claimed to be the true Ruler?
Luke 1:26-38
The Angel Gabriel announces the conception of the Messiah, who will be given the throne of David.
Luke 1:39-45
The unborn John recognizes the mother of the Messiah.
Bush-Obama would chop the unborn John and the unborn Jesus into stem cells for "medical research."
Luke 1:46-56 - "The Magnificat"
“He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.” Luke 1:51
The Bush Administration is filled with the power-hungry, who commit adultery in reality or in fantasy.
Luke 1:67-80
Zacharias, John the Baptist's father, prophecies the birth of Jesus the anti-king.
The expectations of Zacharias are 180° opposite those of the Bush-Obama Administration.
Matthew 1:18-25
Joseph told about the Incarnation.
"Jesus" means "salvation"
"Immanuel" means "God with us"
The Bush Administration thinks it brings salvation.

Obama thinks he is Immanuel.

Luke 2:1-7
The Prophet Micah predicted that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Jesus' parents lived in Nazereth. Therefore God predestined Caesar to issue a decree (probably relating to taxes) that would bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem before Jesus was born.
Bush claims the same global power of confiscation and migration as Caesar did. Thousands of Christians have been forced to move out of Iraq to make way for Bush's Islamic Theocracy.
Luke 2:8-14
An army of angels announces the birth of the Messiah, saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to those with whom He is pleased!”
Man's chief end is to glorify God and live in peace. The Bush Administration's chief end is to erect a "wall of separation" between God and government so that the State gives no glory to God, and to wage war, thereby "stimulating the economy."
Luke 2:15-20
“Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”
Washington D.C. isn't listening.
Luke 2:22-24
Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem to obey Leviticus 12:8, which suggests that they were not rich.
Washington politicians are among the richest and most financially secure people in America.
Luke 2:25-35
Simeon had been told he would not die before he saw the Lord's Messiah. He says Jesus is "The One."

Is Barack Obama the Messiah?

Luke 2:36-38
Anna the Prophetess is another well-known Godly person who acknowledges that Jesus is the Child promised by the prophets.
Where is the Anna of our day who tells us we can trust Washington D.C. to bring salvation?
Matthew 2:1-8
"Wise men from the East" knew of Micah's prophecy that the King of the Jews would be born in Bethlehem.
Are there any wise men around the world who place their confidence in George Bush, Henry Paulson, Paul Krugman, or Barack Obama?
Matthew 2:9-12
The kings from the east present the Messiah with "gold, frankincense, and myrrh."
Rather than bestowing wealth on the King, Obama-Bush confiscates the wealth of others.
Matthew 2:13-18
When Herod got word of the birth of a rival king, he behaved in a perfectly logical way (for someone who wants to protect his power):  he massacred all male babies the age of Jesus. Herod recognized that Jesus was a threat to Herod's power.
Every day in America 4,000 unborn babies are murdered. These babies must threaten something.

Millions of Americans who call themselves Christians, on the other hand, are no threat to tyranny. None of them are being killed. Bush has killed a thousand times more human beings than Herod did, and confiscated a billion times more wealth than Herod did.

The Republican Party Radio Address:

Response of the Republican Party
Saturday Morning Radio Address

Saturday, June 6, 2009

In the Republican Radio Address, Alabama Senator Jefferson Beauregard Sessions comments on D-Day and criticizes the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor as Supreme Court Justice
"Hello, I'm Jeff Sessions, senator from the state of Alabama and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"Before I talk about the federal courts, I want to make note that in the early hours of the morning, sixty-five years ago today, a generation's worth of brave Americans sailed across the troubled waters of the English Channel to an unknown fate on the beaches of Normandy.
"They came from all walks of American life--from big northern cities to small southern towns--united behind a devotion to their country and a belief that democracy and freedom should not perish from the earth.
"With a keen awareness of the dangers that lay ahead, they stormed the coast of Normandy with a force and fury that would forever change the human course of history.
"Too few of those heroes that set out across those stormy waters on June 6, 1944 are with us today.
"But we take a moment now to honor their great sacrifice, to thank all those who've served our country, and to keep alive the memories of lost loved ones.
"The Greatest Generation bestowed on us the gifts of a continued liberty and democratic government, each based on the exceptional American commitment to the rule of law. Actually, the "Greatest Generation" oversaw the greatest expansion of socialist government in U.S. history.

"This week I met with Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama's nominee to the United States Supreme Court.

"Judge Sotomayor has a rich and engaging personality, a marvelous personal story.
"She also has a strong resume--the sort of education and legal background we should look for in a nominee. She spent time in private practice, served as a federal prosecutor, and now sits as an appellate judge on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
"As I told Judge Sotomayor during our meeting, I and my Republican colleagues in the Senate are firmly committed to conducting a fair and respectful process.
"Too often in the past, confirmation hearings have devolved into political theater, short on substance and long on distortions of character and record. As far as I can tell, this is usually the act of Democrats when confirming Republican nominees. Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, Miguel Estrada, etc. Democrats will filibuster, Republicans are push-overs.
"I am convinced that the Senate can do better. When the American people look back on these hearings, I'm hopeful they will remember them as the most substantive, the most thorough, and the most thoughtful in memory--and focused on the issues that really matter.
"The fact is, the Senate confirmation hearings are too important to squander.
"This is because only five justices are needed to declare the meaning of our Constitution and laws. Indeed, by redefining the meaning of our Constitution, judges have the power to impose their will on the people.
"And, unlike Congress or the President, who are accountable to the voters at the ballot box, judges are granted lifetime tenure to exercise their power.
"With that in mind, we in the Senate have an obligation to act on behalf of the American people to carefully scrutinize the nominee's records before confirmation.
"We will examine the nominee's previous judicial records. We will study her academic writings and speeches. We will ask tough, probing questions.
"And, in every instance, we will give the nominee a fair opportunity to provide full and complete answers.
"One issue that merits close examination during this process is the direction of the American legal system.
"Although we sometimes take our heritage of neutral and independent judiciary for granted, the truth is, this great tradition is under attack. And the American people are rightly concerned.
"For example, I am troubled by President Obama's use of the 'empathy standard' when selecting federal judges. See last week's edition of the Ozarks Virtual Town Hall
"With this view--that a judge should use his or her personal feelings about a particular group or issues to decide a case--it stands in stark contrast to the impartiality that we expect in the American courtroom.
"If a judge is allowed to let his or her feelings for one party in the case sway his decision, hasn't that judge then demonstrated a bias against the other party?
"And, if a judge is allowed to inject his personal views into the interpretation of the law, does he not then have a license to rewrite the laws to fit his own preferences?
"I fear that this 'empathy standard' is another step down the path to a cynical, relativistic, results-oriented world:
-- Where words and laws have no fixed meaning;
-- Where unelected judges set policy;
-- And where Constitutional limits on government power are ignored when they are inconvenient to the powerful.
"This standard is deeply troubling because it is so contradictory to our country's long heritage of a faithful and impartial adherence to the rule of law.
"Impartiality is a cornerstone of the American legal system. The rule of law is a hallmark of an orderly society. Together, they form the basis for the moral authority of law. The "moral authority" of law is not in the judges, it is in the Lawgiver. Isaiah 33:22
"That moral authority is the reason that Americans everyday respect and accept the rulings of courts, even when they strongly disagree.
"As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I have traveled to Iraq, and Pakistan, and Afghanistan numerous times.
"What the people of those countries want so desperately and need more than anything is the rule of law: a guarantee that contracts will be fairly enforced, that rights will not be infringed, and that grievances will be peacefully addressed. Contracts were enforced by merchants before the government got involved.
"Our legal system is the bedrock of our liberty and prosperity. It is unique in all the world.
"We must do all we can to protect it.
"I hope that the American people will engage in this nomination process and follow it closely. They should learn about the issues, and listen to both sides of the argument. And, at the end of the day, ask:
'If I must one day go to court, what kind of judge do I want to hear my case?
'Do I want a judge that allows his or her social, political, or religious views to impact the outcome?
'Or, do I want a judge that objectively applies the law to the facts, and fairly rules on the merits?'
"That is the central question around which this entire nomination process will revolve.
"Thank you, and God Bless America."

What Would America's Founding Fathers Do?

The men who threw tea into the Boston Harbor over a tax of 3 pence per pound would not be happy with a tax ten times greater on every gallon of gas. Those who took up muskets over a total tax burden of less than 3% would not be happy with the fact that the federal government now takes more than half of everything you earn.

Today it is illegal for public school teachers to teach their students that the Declaration of Independence is really true (and not just an outdated historical document). The federal government is clearly at war with everything the Founding Fathers stood for.

America's greatest Americans would abolish today's federal government.

Muskets are Not an Option

There are two reasons why we should not take up arms to pull off the violent overthrow of the federal government, even if America's Founders would surely do so. First, the feds have nukes. Second, violent revolution is unChristian and unBiblical. We must beat our swords into plowshares and use persuasion to abolish tyranny. This is time for a revolution of ideas.

Revolution Won't Come in a Day

John Adams once wrote that the American Revolution began in 1761, when Massachusetts attorney James Otis began legal challenges to the Writs of Assistance. He lost the case, but "American independence," Adams wrote, "was then and there born." Now do the math. That means it took 15 years to convince the rest of America to declare Independence (1776). Then another seven years of war was required before a Peace Treaty was signed (1783), and then six years before the Constitution was finally ratified (1789). That's almost 30 years. (And Jefferson said we shouldn't go 20 years without another rebellion!) How can we hope to convince Americans to fight for principles they were never taught in government schools? We need to be in this battle for the long term. "Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty."
